File protection mechanisms

Prevent accidental loss or deletion.

File storage saved in duplicate

All files are stored in duplicate and in different geographical zones.
These zones are independent of each other and are thousands of kilometres apart.

Redundant storage

Dataprius is a cloud system with storing redundancy.

  • When a file enters the system, it makes a copy and stores it in a mirror of the system.
  • In the event of a file failure, the copy is restored.
  • If a storage area is unavailable, the system reverts to the copy.
  • Redundancy ensures persistence and continuity of service. It is called system resilience.

File isolation. Immune to ransomware attacks.

Dataprius uses file isolation. It allows you to work without leaving a trace or residue. It protects and is immune to Ransomware and Cryptolocker.

No ransomware attacks

This storage is not based on a conventional file format.

  • Ransomware attacks target standard file formats.
  • Dataprius cloud storage is block encrypted without relying on traditional hard drives or systems.
  • Dataprius applications do not rely on local file synchronization. You can work directly in the cloud with almost no contact with local devices or networks, avoiding potential infections.

Automatic backups of edited files.

When files are edited, the system automatically generates copies of the file.
When a file is overwritten by uploading, an automatic safety copy is also generated.

The system calls this mechanism Autocopies. It is an automatic versioning.

  • Copies are generated as soon as a file is modified or if it is replaced by a newer file.
  • Dataprius was the first cloud storage system to provide this feature.
  • Usually 14 copies of the file are stored at 30 minute intervals. Up to 7 hours of work has been saved in the event of human error.

Controlled, non-permanent file deletion.

All users can delete and restore files from the recycle bin.

Only system administrators or the system's technical staff can permanently delete files from the recycle bin.

The purpose of this permanent deletion mechanism is to prevent accidental loss.

  • When a file or folder is deleted, it is automatically moved to the Recycle Bin.
  • The user who deleted it, or those who have permission, can restore it. Only an administrator or technical user can perform a permanent delete.
  • Dataprius was the first cloud storage software to include controlled deletion in this way.

The way the application works, determines how the files are protected.

The security and protection of files depend on the way the applications work.

The system must include features to provide control and prevent loss.

Easy to manage access permissions to folders.

In Dataprius, controlling access permissions is very simple.
Users manage the permissions of their folders. The Administrator or a Technical User designated by the company, establishes the general permissions of the system.

If setting permissions is difficult, companies stop using it.

  • For years, Dataprius has been the Cloud storage platform with the easiest permissions system on the market.
  • Granting or denying permissions on a folder is a matter of clicking on a checkbox.
  • If a user doesn't have permissions they simply won't see that folder, they won't even know it exists.

Encryption of files on transit and at rest.

Encryption of files when they are sent or downloaded from Cloud storage.
Encryption at rest when files reside on the storage system.

Encryption is essential for compliance with data privacy and security regulations.

  • Companies wishing to comply with data protection laws such as GDPR must store files in encrypted format.
  • The use of cloud storage systems, which create unencrypted copies of files on the user's computer, is a violation of the law.
  • With Dataprius, compliance with security and data protection is guaranteed by being part of the system.

Full backups of everything stored.

Automatic and manual backups are available. They copy all files to another geographic location. Backups in the Cloud and available from the Cloud.

Backups

The backups reside in another geographical location and do not depend on the main system.

  • In a potential case where the main system crashes due to a natural disaster or any other origin, the backups are recoverable.
  • Backups can be recovered from anywhere as long as you have access with administrator or technical user privileges in the company.
  • All Dataprius customers know that this platform, with backups included the system was also a pioneer compared to other existing cloud platforms.

Sending secure links and documents by email for sharing

Sending files by email does not imply free access.
The receiving user can only act in a defined way to download, edit or view. Encrypted transfers.

Send files or entire folders for sharing with a single click, without compromising security.

  • Dataprius has several types of links available. Those generated for emails, individual links and the new Metalinks.
  • Every link is generated taking into account security criteria and access control.
  • It is possible to give access to entire folders without the recipient having to install any software.

The quality of the cloud storage determines the quality of service.

Dataprius stores in European data centres of the highest quality and with top-level certifications.

While others intentionally hide their storage locations, Dataprius displays it as a guarantee to its customers. Economizing on security and privacy is not an option.

Conclusions on file protection of cloudsoftware

A system that protects files has to operate on the basis of access privileges and user roles.

Applications for professional use such as Dataprius are based on access permissions, which establish who can access the content and how.
Measures are included to prevent data loss due to incidents and human error.

The system uses quality storage and file persistence measures.
